Cross-play with Steam is promised at launch, with more clients to be added in the future. The client is designed to be “platform-agnostic”, meaning GOG Galaxy users will be able to play their games with players using other clients. Further, GOG Galaxy is capable of cross-play. The player will, of course, need to be online to play multiplayer or share their achievements with friends, but again, these features are entirely optional. GOG Galaxy will include additional, entirely optional features as well, including friends, chat, and automatic updating. Unlike similar clients, GOG Galaxy will allow you to play any of your games without an internet connection, meaning the player won’t get locked out of single player games if the client can’t validate the user’s copy. However, in keeping with GOG.com’s mission of DRM-Free gaming, GOG Galaxy will be entirely optional and will not require an internet connection to validate and play your games.
